Global U.S. services will lose market share to competitors in more open markets. As U.S. growth flatlines, Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pac will deepen trade relationships and capture the value. The U.S. misses out in isolation as we forfeit business transactions to (speculatively) German firms

the american constitution does not deal in minutiae. it speaks in generalities with the aim of establishing a limited government of enumerated powers. it is an analytical mistake to treat textual ambiguities as license to ignore that intent or the stated intent of specific provisions. (3)

If Gillibrand can't figure out how to help her members message who is actually at fault for the shutdown during campaign season, then maybe she shouldn't be the DSCC chair.
3. Gillibrand is right—Republicans plan on making it very, very painful for Democrats if there is a shutdown, and Gillibrand is now overseeing the DSCC, which means she’s responsible for all the Senate Democratic candidates running in this cycle.

Extraordinary moment — Nancy Pelosi issues a statement calling on Democratic senators to reject the House funding bill, i.e. to defy Chuck Schumer.

"Democratic senators should listen to the women," she says, referring to Murray/DeLauro who want a 1-month stopgap bill instead.

Crucial huddle happening right now on the Senate floor: Dick Durbin, Angus King and Jeanne Shaheen.

If the House Republican CR is going to advance, it'll need some if not all of their votes.

Only luck getting a human on the line was calling Angus King, who was said to be uncommitted a couple of hours ago. (202) 224-5344

I’m sure all the people who shared NYT’s ‘Screams Without Words’ and Sheryl Sandberg’s ‘Screams Before Silence’ will be sharing this new UN report on Israel’s systematic sexual and gender-based violence against Palestinian men and women, right?
Right?
Gaza war: UN experts accuse Israel of 'genocidal acts' and sexual violence
Israel strongly rejects the findings of the report and accuses the UN Human Rights council of antisemitism.
