Nearly *three-quarters* of American wine exports to Canada vanished by the end of the second full month of Trump 2.0. Hard to overstate how much damage he's inflicted on what had been a $420M+ annual market for US winemakers. Whether this business ever comes back is an open question.
New data: In March 2025, U.S. wine exports to Canada (the most important wine export market) dropped by by US$25.5 million, i.e., 72.5% (compared to March 2024)

Extraordinary watching people do “anti-Zionism isn’t anti-Semitism!” about a poll literally asking people if they dislike Jews
This tracks with everything I've covered for years. It's not in people's heads: America is getting more antisemitic, and that starts with the young. When people focus on antisemitic politicians, they need to grasp that in a democracy, those politicians are downstream from voters.
Explicit antisemitic attitudes are now much more common among young voters - 18 year old registered voters are now ~5x more likely to say that they have an unfavorable view of the Jewish people than 65 year olds.

My main problem with epistemology and political philosophy is the tendency to focus on abstractions (knowledge, democracy) rather than real things (bodies of knowledge, actual democracies). Political epistemology doesn’t really help here.

What tech company will be the first to stand up and say that gutting the NSF is bad actually?
The economic argument seems pretty clear
Less NSF --> fewer PhD students --> fewer researchers --> smaller AI tech pipeline --> slower progress --> less competitive globally
