They came back broken but undefeated. The Ukrainian POWs released from Russian captivity were hollow-eyed and traumatised —victims of brutal torture and starvation. Their suffering is a reminder of the inhumanity of war and the price of defending democracy and sovereignty. Welcome back home, heroes.

With Russia increasingly drawing on men in their 60s and 70s it reminds me of John Scalzi's "Old man's war" scifi book series. Except they don't get new bodies or great kit and their contracts always get extended for the next meat assault.

My big fat obnoxious boss, a 2004 spoof of the Apprentice, was pulled after only 5 episodes. All 10 episodes are on YouTube. It's absolutely outstanding, you can't top someone trying to create adverts for plastic surgery for the deceased.

A new year begins, so it's time for me to mentally switch gear and start preparing to run Wing and a Prayer again in four months.
I'm really proud of WaaP - it's a female-centred LARP about the Women's Auxiliary Air Force in the Battle of Britain which we ran twice in 2018 and 2019. /1
