This is like an onion of problems with our society. First layer is medical care costs in America. Second layer is how young girls are treated by society. Third layer is how people knew about this and did nothing, and on and on, layer by layer.
One of the 17 year old girls Matt Gaetz allegedly trafficked and had sex with needed the money to pay for braces. She ended up homeless and working at McDonald's. Just incredibly bleak stuff.

@durbin.senate.gov
Your former chief of staff once told me that getting the US to join the Ottawa Treaty would have been your crowing achievement. You have spent your career fighting to save lives abroad, but when we needed you to fight for us here, you caved. Your legacy will be disappointment.

This is such an easy solution to a problem and will save lives.
Having a four-lane, 40-mph road next to an elementary school is a recipe for disaster. Fortunately, residents of Cedar Park, Texas, recently got the design of this street changed so students can get to school safely.

College basketball finally returns today😃

Bluesky's CBB activity is FAR too low, but I'll keep posting here all the same. Here's a big Starter Pack I created about a year ago. Share it! If there are accounts posting about ball near-daily that should be added, let me know and I'll share tonight.

You keep repeating it, the editors and journalists at the NY Times and everywhere else respond to social pressures. If their friends, if their relatives, if the people they follow on social media keep saying this, they will start doing so too. Being part of the in-crowd is massively important.
Democrats say this constantly, but when front pages of The NY Times and everyone else refuses to acknowledge it, or thinks stating it is is being a Dem partisan, how do you break through?
“every time theres a republican president the economy collapses” feels like pretty easy messaging on the economy

Congrats to everyone who put Republicans in charge "for the economy," the first three quarters of 2025 already had more layoffs than any of the years in which Biden or Obama was President except 2009 (when Dems were still cleaning up the prior Republican mess).

It's like you can't align with a world historical bigot who decided to invest her entire life in torturing the most vulnerable people in her country without someone noticing. We must be so careful.

Please Dems in leadership, I beg you, please stop making Will right. Please, you can control the narrative, you can fight back. The fact that you are so amazingly unprepared for this moment and also are making this man seem like a prophet is hurting my soul.
I don't think Fancy DC understands how much all the stuff happening around them is because ALL THESE GUYS SPEND ALL DAY ON TWITTER, BEING WORSHIPPED AS HEROES BY THE NEO-NAZIS THEY FOLLOW. It has turned them into total reactionary lunatics!

They even quote @strongtowns.org

Spoiler, it is a great idea and benefits the cities, increases tax revenue and housing supply.
Why Cities Are Getting Rid of Decades-Old Parking Rules (Gift Article)
Hundreds of cities have cut back parking requirements for real estate projects. That’s led to more housing development, but it has also resulted in backlash from residents.

If you have some time read through Nicole’s thread and then some of the conversations in the replies. We can have nice things, but we have to fight for them, they are not guaranteed and the law may not protect them.

Also reasonable replies on a social media site? Who would have thought?
Pernicious garbage. This isn’t just wrong because it shores up the conditions for political impunity, but because on the level of argument, it doesn’t make a lick of sense. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/15/o...
