Yelled “Get off the pavement” at one cyclist who nearly ran me down, and later refused to move out of the way of another, telling him “Cycle on the road like a grown-up”

Aged 50 years over the weekend 🤦‍♂️

This is the root problem. Trump was fairly elected by the people of America (twice!), and there’s no guarantee they won’t choose similarly again. It’s the American *people* who now can’t be trusted to keep the lunatics out
I say this a lot. There is no possible deal a country can make with America. Even if Trump leaves office and a sensible person takes over, they could elect another crazy guy who will blow up the deals and start making threats.
🚨🚨Things are just getting worse. 🧵

Japan's "Mundane Halloween" costume contest is back!

Each year website DailyPortalZ holds a contest where people dress up as something super duper ordinary.

Here's a thread of some of my favorites from the 2025 contest!

Next time Farage or one of his mates is on Question Time getting applause for stopping/reversing immigration, may I suggest the following riposte:

'Everyone who just applauded needs to think hard what they were applauding. Without significant immigration, this country will become a catastrophe.' /1

My most centrist dad take is that most governing politicians deserve sympathy because almost every policy that's actually any good for the country is unpopular, and almost every popular policy is probably bad.

Johnson's Brexit approach was far worse than Chequers IMHO but 20ppts more popular 1/

fundamentally the problem is that if you think "hotels are where I stay on holiday and I like being on holiday so living in a hotel must be fun and it's not fair others get to do it and not me" then you have the intellectual reasoning of a little child and it's going to be hard to engage with you

The #NHS is scruffy and often overstretched but over the last week it gave me and my family on separate occasions:
- Expert neurology consultation
- Fast, efficient A&E treatment
- Same-day nurse advice

Staff were kind, patient, thoughtful and not a penny was handed over (I pay my taxes!)
