Great day spent with my brilliant new(ish) colleague @belenfadrique.bsky.social installing a branch warming experiment at Ness Botantic Gardens, replicated across Europe. Testing how the solstice enables beech to synchronise fruit production (masting). Results next spring…

Change is driving species on the move across time and space and we need to understand the entireity of that picture! Truly a pleasure to work with @afredston.bsky.social, @mwtingley.bsky.social, and many others over the past two years to bring this conceptual vision to fruition! tinyurl.com/5n96tz3a

what is it REALLY like to be a #speciesonthemove? @mwtingley.bsky.social, @mhcneateclegg.bsky.social, Luke Evans, Brett Scheffers, an incredible team of co-authors, and I took a deep dive into this question.

we argue that thermal gradients are all around us—in space and time...

Excellent new paper investigating changes in plant composition through time in the Arctic! Very impressive dataset!
Thanks @nanitundra.bsky.social for leading this and getting me involved on a familiar question in an unfamiliar environment.
🌸Plant diversity dynamics over space and time in a warming Arctic 🌸

Our new study @nature.com analysed plant diversity change in >2000 tundra plots over 4 decades. We found that plants changed unevenly, mostly driven by warming and biotic interactions.

Plant diversity dynamics over space and time in a warming Arctic - Nature
Warming temperatures and interactions between plants are the main drivers of changes in Arctic plant communities in response to climate change, and there is no evidence of overall biotic homogenization.
