Democrats need new leaders. So what does leadership look like, and do my opponents show leadership?

We need new leaders, which is why you should support Alex Rikleen for US Senate in Massachusetts.

Exactly this. Either you are calling for Chuck Schumer to step down - immediately - or you are complicit.

That includes you, @markey.senate.gov.
The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

People focus on The Battle of Pelennor fields, the Breaking of Isengard, but forget about the havoc that Bilbo probably unleashed using the greatest display of passive-aggressiveness in history - Giving your penpal a waste-paper basket: 11/10, no notes. King hater.

⬇️ It's both good politics and the right thing to do!
Condemning a Senator for spreading malicious lies about a tragedy isn't engaging in a distraction, it's saying that you still expect public officials to adhere to basic morality.
(And it's an opportunity to talk about media literacy)
call for a vote to censure or call for a vote to expel. protract the story and explain why it matters.
The top story at the Salt Lake Tribune right now is a roundup of the responses to Senator Lee's repulsive lies, including repelled reactions from Republican officeholders in Minnesota.

My approach feels better than using scammy tactics, but it's a risk - campaigns use those approaches because they work!

And I will need to raise a lot of money.

If you want to chip in to a campaign trying to do things better, a little bit goes a long way:

This is the sort of thing I think is immensely healthy for democracy: concerned citizens stepping up to run for office, even in blue states where it requires a primary challenge. Being a senator shouldn’t be a sinecure.
