In February 1972, Bologna conducted a cordon survey of cars entering the area inside the ring boulevard.

It's challenging to compare data across all entry points, but here's how the numbers for six selected access points look: 1972 vs 2022.

That's quite the reduction 📉

Recently reopened Vere Park in Tbilisi. Love the way the underpass entrance is utilised for amphitheater-like seating and the use of natural stones for paving.

The Venn diagram of urban density and average household GHG emissions is pretty much a circle. Interesting study on “Mapping household GHG emissions in the Greater Golden Horseshoe” from the University of Toronto School of Cities schoolofcities.utoronto.ca/mapping-hous...

This is not a TFL bus stop but a bus stop flag in Tirana 🇦🇱 only saw a few of them across the city, mostly in central areas.

According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150K trees have been planted & 45ha of parks created in the already hot city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to & manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050.

Just the start.

Common sense.

Vienna deserves more recognition and hype for how it’s transforming its streets. Stormwater collection and safer streets.

Zurich is the latest city to make parking more expensive for oversized cars like SUVs.

Cities including Paris and Montreal have taken similar steps to counteract car bloat.
Zürich will Parkgebühren erhöhen – SUV-Fahrer müssten deutlich mehr bezahlen
Zürich plant höhere Parkgebühren für schwere Autos in der Blauen Zone. Elektrofahrzeuge profitieren von vergünstigten Tarifen. Vorschlag geht an den Gemeinderat

I spent some time in the Balkans this Summer. Skopje is known for being, umm, the kitsch capital of Europe. I personally found it positively quirky and absolutely loved the fake routemasters (Yutong City Master). One downside is the total absence of passenger info, gmaps has wrong/outdated data.

This is Kankava street in Tbilisi, in an area that will hopefully soon turn into the “London Park Superblock”.

For the second year now it is being reclaimed from cars during #EuropeanMobilityWeek - turned into a people-first space.

Planters, outdoor seating - simple things, massive impact.
