I taught word equations to year 9 set 4 (bottom) today - a topic that many still struggle with in yr 10 and 11. Explained (concrete to abstract), modelled then CFU on MWBs. “I let solid Iron rust in Gaseous Oxygen and it made solid Iron Oxide. Write, hover, whats the word equation” 🧵

Triple papersx31, marking time per paper - 9mins, 4.65hrs, combined papersx70, marking time per paper - 6mins, 7hrs. Total time to mark paper 1 - 11.65hrs. Add on paper 2 - 23.3hrs. Total gain time - 6hrs. Add on rubbish behaviour and we have a non-teaching job search on our hands😂
