Aaand done! 😄

Honestly a great, quick way for me to finally breathe easier regarding online privacy.

Kinda been doing things through haphazard knowledge for a while.

This is a great breakdown of some of the things happening the last 6 weeks.

Every American should be watching this, wondering what the hell is going on, and why the our Congress seems so undisturbed.

Shouldn't there be overwhelming solidarity to the threat of government corruption?

Today's #UPDATE on my math learning journey:

Summarizing my notes on division of fractions before I move on, and realizing there's still some nuances I'm struggling to explain the 'why' of to myself.

I'm getting there though. Everything is starting to fall in place nicely.

Wow! This is such an great video on dividing fractions when combined with the previous four.

The explanation of what you're doing with the reciprocal made the ENTIRE idea intuitively click for me.

I could do the calculations before, but now I feel like I'm understanding them.

It's been a while since I've read a non-fiction book not related to math or programming.

The world has seemed a little crazy lately, and I've been finding it hard to sleep- I'm thinking it's time to pick up a book I've been holding onto and learn about it a little.

I love discbound notebooks. Re-arrangeable pages have been a godsend!

With traditional notebooks I used to restart with a new structure over and over, but these have allowed me to quickly experiment with what actually works for me in a journaling system.

I've never really used social media much, especially #twitter.

The text limit makes a lot of things make sense. So many posts read to me as either hostile, or like someone trying to sell something.

Even my posts feel more like I'm selling myself than just sharing what I'm thinking and up to.

This book being formatted like "quick math notes" doesn't completely make up for teacher instruction.

I'd forgotten a bit how to work with fractions. The book explained how to do the calculations quickly, but for intuitive understanding I turned to @khanacademy.org's great arithmetic course!

This is why, despite feeling embarrassed, I decided to pick up "Everything You Need to Ace Math in One Big Fat Notebook"

I was going to pick up their algebra book first, but why not ensure I have strong fundamentals I can explain to others?

Recently I learned that ~30% of US adults are considered to have Basic #math skills by the #PIAAC study, which seems to me to correspond to about 5-6th grade math skills. ~30% more are 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑙𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙.

(linked article uses older data, but seems more accessible)

What’s the latest U.S. numeracy rate?
Count them out: Just one-third of Americans have even intermediate skills at understanding stats.

Just got a root canal done, and with it a good blow to my savings. 😭

I wanna finally establish some kind of social media presence, so starting an account to keep me motivated as I build myself back up.

Planning to do some "learning in the open" while I drown myself in work 🎓
