We took the dogs to the kennel this morning... They were very excited to go, with Pretty singing the whole way. The staff don't encourage long goodbyes, so the dogs were off without a backward glance, and they don't know that I won't see them again for months. :(

One thing I find interesting as a writer is that when practicing, you learn what "good" and "bad" writing looks like.
And that's great because you can become your own critic... but you also realize how badly many things are written ;-;

Updat on Mom: She's got a large bleeding ulcer (might account for her weakness). Moved to a skilled nursing facility, not sure for how long.

Get home, crash for 24 hrs, immediately get texts that my mom has fallen and is in the ER. Cannot catch a break here. They've diagnosed her with low iron, doing a transfusion, colonoscopy planned. I've set her up with home care, though she has to follow through when she gets home.

Tomorrow I fly back to Nederland, where I expect to spend a largely jetlagged and nonexistent Christmas, then have the equilibrium ripped out from under me again as we travel back on our original vacation plans to tie up any other loose ends on the 15th.

Back to Phoenix after taking care of Dad's (but mostly Mom's) affairs. I may have stepped into Hell... the tv is stuck on Faux propaganda News and won't change channels. Looking up ways to hack it.

Lot on my plate lately. Doing a lot of footwork as far as paperwork, errands, housework, since Mom is too wiped out for about anything. Arno's here to help, or at least prop me up.
