Civil Case No. 25-1050 (RJL) MEMORANDUM ORDER May 1, 2025 [Dkt. #13] This matter initially came before the Court on plaintiff American Library Association's ("ALA") and plaintiff American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO's ("AFSCME") motion for a preliminary injunction ("PT"). See Pls.' PI Mot. [Dkt, #13]; Pls.' Mem. in Supp. of PI Mot. ("Pls.' PI Mem.") [Dkt. #13-11. Plaintiffs sought a decision on the PI by May 4, 2025, as defendants intend to execute a "mass termination of [Institute of Museum and Library Services] staff' on that day. Pls PI Mot. at 1. I. CONCLUSION For the reasons set forth above, the Court will GRANT IN PART plaintiffs' motion for a TRO. The Court will not, at this time, issue a TRO providing all of the relief sought by plaintiffs. Confession: I have been with my hubby for 28 years and he uses Suave whatever 3-in-1 he grabs first at Wegmans as his sole form of skincare and hair care, minus Neutrogena fragrance free hand cream. Other than SPF on his face, I still haven’t been able to get him into a #skincare routine. Stubborn!

Horrific. This happened right near here. Sam’s body was found a few miles from my son’s college campus. The motel where this man was brutally tortured & ultimately murdered is a road many travel in the Finger Lakes. I just drove down it yesterday afternoon. There are no words. This was a hate crime.

It's not hard to connect the dots between this and the flagrant anti-trans legislation coming out of Washington and some states. These anti-trans laws claim they're "protective" but they actually just open the door to violence. This is sick.
A 24-year-old transgender man from Minnesota who had been missing since December was subjected to violence and torture before his body was found this week in a field in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, the authorities said. Five people were arrested in connection with his death and charged with murder, the New York State Police said on Friday. At least one of them was said to have been staying with the victim at a motel. The victim, identified as Sam Nordquist, had been subjected to “repeated acts of violence and torture” between December of last year and this month, according to Capt. Kelly Swift of the State Police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. “In my 20-year law enforcement career, this is one of the most horrific crimes I have ever investigated,” Captain Swift said at a news conference on Friday. “The facts and the circumstances of this crime are beyond depraved,” added James Ritts, the district attorney of Ontario County, N.Y.

Someone mentioning Bourjois has me thinking about other brands that are no longer around. I miss Cargo Cosmetics. I bought my first Cargo lipstick in a shade called Copenhagen at Eaton’s in Toronto in ‘98. Once my kids were older, I worked for Cargo as a regional MUA. Any favorites you miss?

Just a reminder: You can get outstanding #skincare and #makeup at the drugstore. Anyone who tells you otherwise is likely trying to sell you something. Of course, there are amazing products in all price ranges (I have some favorites as that are $$$), but the idea that expensive = better is untrue.

Do you ever find yourself thinking about discontinued products from forever ago? This morning in the shower I was thinking about the old Bath & Body Works “from the heartland” Banana Mint Deep Treatment. This is the one before the Hairworks one in the white tube - it came in a tub. I miss that one!
