He believes it is crucial that we pivot from the old paradigm of “pave, pipe and pump” and instead begin to “slow and store” water, pumping only as necessary.

Reducing storm water to drainage — essentially equating it with sewerage — is “a perverse exclusion of opportunity,” Waggonner says.
This 2017 piece from Jed Horne after the summer floods in New Orleans feels appropriate today.

In Milwaukee on Sunday, the Menomonee river basin overflow park did its job with 10" of rain.

I didn’t think the US government could stoop any lower but here we are. An innocent resident of New Orleans, born in Iran, lived here for 50 years is arrested by ICE.

This is oligarchy. This is obscene.

While 60% live paycheck to paycheck & kids go hungry, Jeff Bezos, worth $230 billion, goes to Venice on his $500 million yacht for a $20 million wedding & spends $5 million on a ring while his real tax rate is just 1.1%.

End this oligarchy.

Instead of placing homeless families in shelters, where they receive food, help finding housing and sometimes child care, New York social service agencies park them in hotels, where they receive no such support. Important story:
How Hotels, Once a Last Resort, Became New York’s Default Answer to Homelessness
Statewide spending on hotels has more than tripled in recent years. The shift away from shelters has prevented families from accessing services like child care and help finding housing.

What would we do without AOC and others. LA residents are being cut off Medicaid but yet we are still allowing United Health Care defrauding the public by $80B a year.
AOC: You are not aware that the Trump Department of Justice is investigating the largest insurance company in America for fraud of Medicare Advantage that you have jurisdiction over?

Psst…those 1950s manufacturing jobs Trump loves so much?

They were good jobs because they were UNION jobs.

Oh...and taxes on corporations and the rich were much higher.

Trump’s agenda won’t bring back the “Golden Age.”

It’ll make the rich richer at everyone else's expense.

Well speaking as a resident of New Orleans and observer of the system of charter schools here, good luck Memphis because charters aren’t going to make it better for poor kids and families. Much better off with sustainable community school model!
⚡️ UPDATE: House Republicans just passed the state takeover of MEMPHIS Schools 63-30

Barrett, Fritts, Martin, Reneau, Warner,
Moon joined the Dems in opposing the blatant state government overreach into local affairs (likely to enrich charter school operators)

It isn't just the stock markets collapsing. Trump is also collapsing the U.S. Dollar. That is a very, very bad sign.

Not only will American consumers be paying for tariffs in higher costs, but the purchasing power of their money will not stretch as far.
