As in so many ways I very much still feel like a novice student in exploring biology, I am very grateful and proud for this Award of the Biochemical Society 'for significant achievements in nanoscale molecular biology, especially the contribution to developing methodologies'.
Congratulations to Cees Dekker @ceesdekker.bsky.social who showcased his work on single-molecule biophysics studies of DNA loop extrusion in his 2026 #BiochemAward Lecture for Significant Breakthrough or Achievement! We hope everyone enjoyed Prokaryotic Chromosomes VII!

Congrats Timon!
Delighted to announce that I'm awarded an @nronl.bsky.social Comenius Leadership Fellow grant to work on co-creation of interactive open textbooks as an educational tool. Excited to explore this with and for our students in the coming years. See edu.nl/w78qp for a description of the project.

Just spoke with PhD student Olga Rook.

She did a survey on public attitudes to synthetic cells, see journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

Overall she finds great support, with only ~10% of people objecting to synthetic cell research and applications.
