I don't think NYT should know peace until they divulge the full chain of decision making that led to the laundering of Nazi propaganda against a leading anti-fascist politician the same day fascism was codified in Congress.

It would be tempting to find the “antisemitism panic” re Mamdani laughably absurd, & yet I’m reminded of the “DEI” & “trans panics.” The fact that ppl w power are able to say absurd things in public shld be understood instrumentally: as anti-democratic calls for state violence

Mr. Antiwar President has us inches away from a Civil War at home and a nuclear war abroad in defense of an ally that is starting random hot regional wars to detract from its ongoing genocide. I’m sure all of this will just naturally cool off.

Reminder that seven Democratic senators voted to confirm Kristi Noem and six Dem senators declined to vote either way.

She was confirmed, 59-34.

The good faith experiment is clearly over, and we need the Democratic senators who didn't stand against her nomination to be loud as hell right now.

College leadership is pathetic. What cowards. They're going to withhold the diploma of the valedictorian because he used his speech to condemn genocide? Great. Make a hero out of him.

BTW - the kids gave him a standing ovation.

Esp for non-Turkish friends who might be curious about the earthquake today and where things stand with earthquake preparedness in Istanbul (and Turkey at large)
A 6.2 earthquake hit Istanbul this afternoon, thankfully no casualties reported so far. But:

1. Scenes of packed crowds in narrow streets all over the city highlight the lack of adequate assembly areas. 60% of assembly areas listed in the city's disaster plan no longer exist. Many were built upon.

Has everyone in charge at Columbia simply lost their marbles? I really cannot wrap my mind around their dereliction of duty to their students. If my kid went there I would sure feel some kind of way.

Omg we live in the worst horror film.
The co-director of the Oscar-winning documentary NO OTHER LAND, which still has no distributor, is missing. I look forward to seeing people make excuses for this as Israel is bombing hospitals and killing children.

Every single member of the Columbia administration should step down.

Through their complicity and their cowardice, they've betrayed their faculty, their staff and most of all their students.

There's no way they can lead that university in any meaningful sense from this point on.

This whole thing is madness. My partner is one of that 65thousand of people this jerk judge claims is not real. It’s so bizarre that if it weren’t so enraging it would almost be surreal in an interesting way.
A sitting judge in NC is STILL trying to change election rules after he lost, toss ballots from 65,000+ eligible voters, & grab a seat on the Tar Heel state’s highest court? Scary, but true. Bob Crawford, Ben Sawyer, and I talked about why we all should be paying attention to this story.
*The Road to Now* podcast, co-hosted by Bob Crawford and Ben Sawyer, talked with counsel and North Carolinian @anne-tindall.bsky.social about Jefferson Griffin’s efforts to overturn the results of the election for the N.C. Supreme Court—and what it could mean for the nation.

Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business.

We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.
