A long-necked dinosaur, silhouetted against a night sky bisected by the delicate misty swirls of the Milky Way, walks through a sea of glowing blue dinoflagellates. A crescent moon occurs just above her tail. She wonders why no one else wanted to come on this memorable night walk, and then remembers that she is a reconstruction by an artist living over one hundred million years in the future, and that she exists only as pixels on screens. She has no permanence, no physicality. But, in being composed mainly of light, she feels a oneness with the glowing organisms at her feet, and the twinkling stars above. "Are we not all transient, temporary expressions of physics?", she thinks. "And for what I lack in body, I exist here, in this setting, in this moment, forever surrounded by two of nature's grandest spectacles." She walks on, her lighter-coloured scales catching the glow of the stars and waves. "Things could be worse", she thinks, smiling at how deeply philosophical her small sauropod brain has turned out to be.

I haven't seen the same outpouring of support for Rodney Hinton, Jr. that we saw for Luigi Mangione. GoFundMe took down the fundraiser for Hinton, who is accused of killing an officer shortly after he watched bodycam footage of police killing his 18-year-old son.

"Last night, P Town was raided during a drag show. One of the few queer bars left in the city, disrupted mid-performance by a coordinated operation from the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (LCB). Around 30 officers, including undercover agents, swarmed the building, made folks stand outside in the rain, and called it a “compliance check.” But let’s be real this wasn’t about compliance. This was about intimidation. About disrupting queer joy. About sending a message. The presence of that many officers geared up and posted inside a queer space was never going to feel neutral. That kind of show of force, especially from agencies with long histories of harm toward our people, brings up real fear. This wasn’t just about checking paperwork. This was about control. And let’s make this part very clear: This was not the city. This was not Pittsburgh police. This was the LCB. This was the Pennsylvania State Police. Those are the agencies that need to be held accountable. We know who stands with us. We also know who shows up only to surveil, disrupt, and silence. And we are not confused. Our spaces are sacred. Our joy is not illegal. And we won’t be quiet while it’s treated like a threat."
