Transit voice announcements recorded by a voice artist are such a big opportunity to capture the essence of a community. It’s a real shame to see Scotrail rolling out computer-generated voice announcements across its railway.

After two weeks away from home, my biggest pet peeve with hotels - no matter how premium - is their complete inability to colour temperature-match room lights.

8.7kWh (PH)EV takes 5 hours to charge using the same power as an oven to give about 85km range. Power-hungry sucker

Granola in New Zealand seems to be universally served with yoghurt but no liquid. It’s tasty but a very different and dry experience to Australian cafe granola.

New Zealand card transaction fees are insane, so I’m paying for pretty much everything in cash. 2.5% universal banking tax? No thanks.

The welfare state has been dismantled and all that’s left is devastation and a blame game.
Jack’s mother thought he was being looked after. He died desperate and alone
Jack died in the Blue Mountains the day after his birthday. For his mother Renee, it was the tragic end to years of pain that should never have happened.

The Prime Ministerial tribute to @antonygreenelec.bsky.social at the end of the ABC broadcast last night was really the most heartwarming thing.

domestic water filters are being marketed on the basis that there’s PFAS in water and that they “remove contaminants”. yeah nah unless you’ve got a reverse osmosis plant in your kitchen, drink up and enjoy the microplastics.

Ordered a (fairly niche) book on Amazon last Friday for next day delivery (last copy in stock) and they’ve emailed me today saying there’s a five day delay. Wonder if the copy went MIA

When I was quite young, we had a fridge magnet that read “To err is human. To really stuff things up requires a computer”

I think this is more relevant today than ever before.

Parramatta is a ghost town during uni break. Crazy how young people with no money and lots of free time can fill up third places

Easter Sunday. PM2.5 levels at my local monitoring station are effectively zero today. Traffic noise is right down there too. So nice!

When I first went to uni out of school (before dropping out) many of my peers were also from public school. I went back to uni several years later and almost everyone straight out of school had come from private schools.

I occasionally take a moment to marvel at this, and I’ll do it again. Our urban drinking water supplies in Australia are uniformly incredibly good

I haven’t seen any of Ncuti’s Doctor Who yet, but is all the hate online just thinly-veiled white supremacy?
