Really cool to see the Nest Gen 1 & 2 liberated however I take issue with many calling this "open source".

The firmware is not open, no patch history for the binary files, and the API is hosted by a third party with no option to self host. Hopefully this is changes.

Its amazing how in denial people are about the dangers of this situation.

"Oh that will never happen, courts won't stand for it" ... then it does

Next bad thing threatened ... "oh that will never happen"

Taxpayers are prefunding SpaceX to develop the human landing system which is years behind schedule but SpaceX has 2+ billion to invest into xAI.

Seems similar to your contractor taking your down payment & hitting up the casino while your construction project keeps falling behind schedule.

I remember when conservative minded folks were concerned about surveillance and privacy. Now, license plate readers, local/state/fed access to private cams, data breaches, reselling of user data, private data being fed to AI... all gets a collective shrug.

How many months away before ads are being injected into AI responses?

"Hi, am Clippy, your AI assistant. I don't think you really want a recipe for that homemade meal, how about I order you some tallow fries instead?"

"I know you want a SQLite func but wrote you one for free trial of FartCloud"

I think about this every damn day

Private contractors like Management and Training Corporation get $165 per day per detained individual.

Not only 1 less person in the labor force but Steven Camarota from the anti immigration CIS, produced a report that showed that "illegal" immigrants end up costing us taxpayers about $2.48/day.

Has anyone considered that the administration's push for 14 year olds to be tried as adults is pretext for justifying a change to the age of consent?

Its 2025 and email clients are STILL not smart enough to understand that if you Reply to an email thread that you yourself most recently replied to, you don't want to send an email to yourself but rather send a follow up email to the same recipient(s) as the prior message.

I love raw milk but I have also milked cows. Have you? Their udders are covered in shit, and not the fresh kind, but the kind that has been stewing in a puddle or even a pond for months.

TL;DR: TX Situation

TX GOP drew congressional maps in 2021 for next 10 yrs
2025: 4 yrs later, TX GOP doesn't like their own maps anymore

Strangely, why is no one asking why politicians are able to pick who gets to elect them? Shouldn't this be an independent non partisan body with specific rules?

Remember not wanting to arm ukraine because it might provoke RU.

Now we still don't arm them but publicly announce sending nukes to RU's doorstep.

Starship is supposedly rapidly re-usable thanks to the chopsticks. You know what else was supposedly rapidly reusable that landed on wheels.... except refurbishment took several months.

Given that 9 launches ($1B) later its still not usable, never mind re-usable, I really wonder about viability.

Every social media site should have the gmail delayed send feature but you have to confirm a "are you sure" some time later.

Not enough people are thinking "I know I can reply but should I?"

Now, we bypassed the police, and it's just straight up the military.
