The extinct dodo bird lived on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. “Duodo” in Portuguese is “simpleton“. So named as “It had no fear of man and was therefore easily killed.” It is terribly sad that some innocent creature, who did not fear us, was one of the first to be made extinct by us.

American humorist Josh Billings (1818-1885) stated.”I honestly believe it is better to know nothing than to know what ain’t so.” Nowadays, it seems there are way too many people, just as comfortable and content as can be, believing “what ain’t so.”

Consider: There are 37 players from the Negro Leagues now inducted into the Hall of Fame. All but 7 were inducted posthumously & only 6 lived to enjoy the induction ceremony.
So, only 6 of 37 got to see their plaques hanging in the Hall. To recognize such greatness so late—too late—is beyond sad.

I am proud to be affiliated with the Baseball Assistance Team. Anyone who is a true baseball fan must know of the great work this organization does for former members of the Baseball family. Supporting BAT is the best opportunity to help those in our Baseball family who are in desperate need.

The very fact that Elon Musk has become so very active on X is reason enough to stay off it or get off it if you’re on it. His posts are either vitriolic, supercilious or just plain stupid.

My kids were raised with me reading Shel Silverstein books to, & later with, them. I’m doing that now with my grandchild. We love his writings & his imagination. I discovered that some school districts have banned portions of his books. I’ll never understand why some folks find books so scary.
