Dine’ citizen resident of the Navajo Nation, archaeologist and professor. Rez life is a husband, two dogs and a surly rabbit. Introvert, nerd, scattered knitter, and patchy quilter. Currently in higher ed admin. My posts represent me and no one else.
I had my misgivings but my husband was right - deep fried turkey is delicious. Though I think injecting it with melted butter helped a lot.

Two things: 1) Self-checkouts, you’re going to make me do it myself and then stop me like you think i’m a criminal at the door? 2) If the infected on The Last of Us are infected with a fungi, why are they carnivorous?

It has been a hectic and crappy week. I stopped by the county library’s bookmobile on the way home and it totally brightened my day. Not many libraries on the rez so it was pretty great.

Reminder: They're trying to demoralize you, and they're doing a great job of it. Part of resisting is making time for joy despite the attempts to make you feel this is not the time for it. Love your people. Dig the art that speaks to you. Go to the places where life flows into you. You deserve joy.

I think of this video often. We shouldn’t be fighting the same fight. Waiting for comfort and decorum isn’t the way. Progress happens when you don’t stop.

My mom and I have embarked on a quest. Fifty state quilt blocks designed in the early 1900s. These are my practice blocks for Connecticut (red & white) and Delaware (in progress). I’m not sure I have the stamina for this 😅

I’ve read Clay’s Ark and Survivor both by Octavia Butler since Sunday. It has been so long since I’ve read fiction and an actual real life book with pages and everything! It fell on my face and poked me in the eye when I dozed off… that’s how I remember it was real. 😆

My dad would have been 86 this month - I wish I could apologize for every winter morning that I woke up in a warm house and took it for granted that he would always be there to chop the wood and build the fire in the dark hours of the early morning. Just missing my Dad a little today

That’s an NTUA truck out there! Might get electricity this year! (if you know me and you know Navajo rez life, you know that was sarcasm 😆)
