Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t give Ottawa what it needs. The plan is built around the limits of a public-private deal that leaves the city with hundreds of millions in new debt for a project that won’t serve residents well.

My local city councillor just reminded me that Ford's elimination of speed cameras means that responsibility is transferred from speeders to taxpayers to pay for safety measures like crossing guards, intersection fixes and traffic calming. Nice.🙃

All of this.
There's lots to mull in this Citizen article exploring 417 congestion. All is not hopeless but there are challenges. Transit is the key to quicker commutes. Restoring and then improving transit will help speed everyone along.
Why is traffic so bad on Highway 417 in Ottawa?
Here's everything you need to know about how construction, unreliable transit, and returning to the office have made getting to work worse.

Riddle me this.

If you put all your money into savings, while your house has a leaky roof and a cracked foundation. Are you really saving money?

Or, is it smarter to use your money, to make more money - and do preventative maintenance?

Our city is in a strong financial position because we’ve found savings and made smart choices. Le budget 2026 maintiendra les impôts aussi bas que possible et investira dans les priorités qui vous tiennent le plus à cœur.

Across Ottawa, from fairs and markets to townhalls and meetings, I’ve been hearing the same thing: people are frustrated and want a new direction for our city. We need a city that works, with reliable transit, strong services, repaired roads and community centres.

Death and injury statistics only tell a small part of the story

Interesting to see that graffiti on my commute, under the 417 on the TCT, has been painted over. "Free Palestine" has now gone but the Pornhub logo has been left.

Ah #Autowa ! Keeping someone's food order that little bit warmer is way more important than my safety. When I challenged the driver, coming from Zak's, that it was dangerous he simply said "I know" and went on his way.

To lane-popping cyclists, what’s the point of your dangerous manoeuvres? Do you not know what’s at stake?
Here’s an idea: What if you ride like a normal commuter during rush hour and you feed your need for speed by participating in amateur racing and cycling events

Just raise our damn taxes so that you can actually afford to provide functioning city services.
