So I've been stewing over Genshin Impact lately.
Namely, how often some characters are (lore wise) undeservedly 5-Stars, or they're super powerful/influential and are only 4-Stars...

So I made my own list of who belongs where 💀

Hands down, Moriarty the Patriot by Ryosuke Takeuchi!

Taking Sherlock Holmes and flipping the perspective to have Moriarty as the protagonist with Holmes as the Antagonist is incredibly entertaining.

While the tragedy of reading about characters experiencing what happens in books, while being younger can hit me right in the feels; I definitely prefer characters older than me.

There's just something more involved when the characters are fully mature adults.

Obviously social media is a major bonus (BookTok was amazing while I had it)

I tend to think back to a lot of the descriptors used in The Troop by Nick Cutter.

The horror and viscera were done beautifully, making me incredibly uncomfortable the entire time.

Not anytime recently.
For a WHILE it was def from Japan because I was obsessed with manga collecting and reading.
Now, I just try and find either horror/thriller or political commentaries.

I should branch out more now that I'm thinking about it tho 🤔

With the major stigma caused by America regarding the Middle East, it's pertinent to have the younger generations know the reality of that bias. To rid themselves of that otherness.

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi does that exactly, and is a devastatingly powerful read.

Obviously, a balance is needed, but I will ALWAYS love a character driven narrative more than a plot based one.

Thirteen Storeys by Jonathan Sims is an amazing example that has both, but the characters are the most important!

Murder of Innocence is an incredibly interesting biography.

To see someone so obviously spiraling with no true support system, to see her do something so terrible, it's a devastating read.

Depends on the book tbh a 1 or 5 star needs at least a day to a week to recover emotionally.
A 2-4 star however, could be the same day.

Hands DOWN, Bridge to Terabithia's ending devastated me as a little kid. I thought it was gonna be happy 😭
