One of my favourite YT channels if I’m being honest. Nashies is laid back and *real*. If you’re a person who loves to eat and cook but sometimes you get too tired or run out of spoons or leave the dry aged Wagyu beef money in your other pants and need to eat something normal… she’s a great follow.
If you want to support a Disabled Creator that doesn't manipulate anything, use filters, or AI, My Channel may be for you. I just cook food, review food, talk and stuff. It's a chill vibe

Remembering how Biden revived the practice of releasing visitors logs and was rewarded by the press for his transparency with a front page story at his weakest possible moment about how he had Parkinson's based on a Parkinson's expert visiting the WH.

(Turns out, Biden did not have Parkinson's)

People are roasting this lede, but NYM is actually correct to print it. Toilet paper is so scarce in prisons that it is sometimes used as a currency.

It shouldn't be restricted, for any person, but the fact that it isn't for her (and her alone) is a sign of extremely special treatment.
Apparently, Ghislaine Maxwell is living it up in prison with unlimited toilet paper. Here’s what we know about her alleged special privileges at her new federal prison camp in Texas.

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

arts festival president saying "half our grants go back to city in police costs" is beyond infuriating. the police run a protection racket. they are a literal mob, dude
246: folk fest president. Advocating for increased funding for arts. Arts is a necessity. Festivals under threat. Many have folded. We bring in millions of dollars to economy. We bring joy in world of despair. Half of our grants just go back to city in police costs.

Maryland in particular was unique among all states in 1860. In the South proper, almost no Black people were free - Virginia had the largest proportion, with 10.6%. In Delaware, 92% of Black people were free, in DC 78%. In Maryland, 49% were free and 51% were enslaved, an utterly bizarre standalone.
Maryland, DC, and Delaware were extremely strange states demographically (and still are to some degree) in 1860. They were the only states to have more than 3.8% of their total population be Free Black people, and they all were *significantly* higher (MD - 12.2%, DC - 14.8%, DE - 17.7%)
I find MD an interesting and telling case stud- stayed in the union with some pressure and also had some of the few Southern cities and counties where the majority of the *black* population was free.

I don't think people really internalize the knowledge that in 1860, the outright majority of the populations of South Carolina and Mississippi was enslaved, as well as over 40% of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana, and over 30% of North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Staggering numbers!

We have increased ICE activity in Baltimore as of Weds
Bovino and many of his agents are headed to another city. Reports indicate that Charlotte and NOLA are upcoming targets. But there will still be ICE attacks in Chicago, as there were before, and we need to remain responsive. We also have a lot of deep prep work to do, bc they will be back in force.
