If you ever go into one of Taipei’s many municipal sports centres from 8:00 to 10:00 AM or from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, you’ll notice an unusual number of senior citizens. That’s because Taipei City lets its senior citizens use the facilities for free during these hours.

I don’t think I’d ever want to live in a house that didn’t have at least one gecko (壁虎) guarding the premises. I like that they eat mosquitoes and cockroaches, I like their happy little chirps, and they’re cute. What’s not to like?

As a kid, I was taught
"rightie tightie, leftie loosie" to remember which way to turn screws/lids/etc. And today I found out that in Spanish, the phrase is: "La derecha oprime, la izquierda libera”, or: "The right oppresses, the left liberates." The social democrat in me likes that much better. 😁

It dawned on me today that when my daughter wants to talk with me about YouTubers, she doesn't *really* want to talk about YouTubers.
What she wants is to share her excitement and knowledge. What she wants is to bond with her dad. What she wants is quality time together.
Still, it's a hard no.
