Anyone who has ever tried to be the bulwark of facts and reason at one of these meetings knows this is true.

We shouldn't have a vetocracy of our loudest and angriest citizens with the most free time.
The public hearing format:

✅ Generates no new knowledge
✅ Generates a lot of anger and misinformation
✅ Privileges those with the most extreme views
✅ Leads to planner and policymaker burnout

It needs to go. Focus the time and resources on genuine public engagement.

Kinda misunderstand the nature of wine grape farming, though.

Wine grapes are often culled and dropped to the ground to keep yields down, and focus phenolic development on specific clusters.

Only the largest bulk wine operations would be interested in this, unless it showed other benefits.

Abundant supply will take time, and large scall losses of value are unlikely in the short term.

Slow, steady improvement in affordability and the slow wind down of returns on real estate investment are the best case scenario, there may be some firms that suffer but "aftershocks" won't be huge IMO.
