I see maple necks and acoustic guitar tops dyed bold yellow colors to look vintage. Some vintage guitars are really yellow, but I like the warmer orangier look myself, so I did this one with a coat of orange shellac on the soundboard and then the clear will add a little more amber as it builds up.

Factory nut string height at over .020" (highlighted string on the right). Taking it down to .004" or less than half the string on the left. Makes a big difference in playability and intonation. #luthier #precision #guitar #setup #playability #music #instrument

Refelting an autoharp for a customer at Artistic Portland Gallery 4110 NE Fremont St. in Portland, OR. I am usually there Fridays from 6-8 pm to look at or discuss string instruments. I'm a luthier, mostly guitars, and have a few in the gallery, along with other instruments and 20 other artists art.
