One first step people should do to respond to this is start using the “report a speed trap” function in Apple Maps to report where ICE is operating. Make Apple party to the attempt to protect people.

Ok, so @bsky.app seems to think I am a gay man?? My Discover feed is nothing but very suggestive content from that demo. I have muted SO many half-naked men. I’m ready to delete my account - not sure I’ll start over. I have never searched or liked anything that would link to this.. WTF.

Come on here and my feed is mostly US politics, Epstein files, vaccine chatter, and fearmongering. *sigh

100% tourist rage: The spaced out meandering (50/50 immersed in phone), stopping at the bottom / top of stairs - or entrances & exits, walking multi-across sidewalks (all holding hands is next level), stopping abruptly in busy areas, and a general complete lack of self & spacial awareness. Good God.
Tourists walking four across at a glacial pace will make me snap one day, I fear

Some good news this week.. perm. residency permit renewal was approved - mostly a formality, but this time it’s valid for 10 jaar! 🧡🇳🇱🌷

Made the most rookie mistake and brought new shoes for city exploring - wore them on day one (and that day only). After walking 27k in them I had blisters galore, and it resulted in two toenails falling off by week’s end.

Did I mention I bought my first pair of crocs to cope? 🫠 Good Lord.

That said, unlike Canada, two return train tickets to Paris cost €168. The journey is just over 3 hours. Was also looking at return flights to Dublin for less than €100. Flying within Canada was always so bloody expensive.. don’t miss that.

Was in Paris this past week - mid 30’s the whole time 🥵☀️.. it was lovely, but nice to be back in Ams w/ cooler temps. Also, back to reasonable food costs. 😅 Reminded me of Canada. 💸

Trying to find & follow more people.. attempting to give this platform another chance (do I bother?), but my ‘discover’ feed is 90% Gavin Newsom chatter or ppl I already follow. 🙄

Stop offloading cognitive tasks to "generative AI." Stop using systems w/ "AI" features either inextricably woven through them or prominently displayed at the top to nudge you into their use. Stop *Designing* "AI" tools & integrations that way. Stop building or using "AI" like this. Fucking Stop it.

When I first joined bluesky I was hopeful and enjoying it. Now I only see the same handful of users - regardless of the feed; following, discover, etc.

It just doesn’t feel very active. I was hoping it would be more positive, but despite my own efforts w/ the algorithm, it’s becoming more negative.

It appears change is abound for many.
If you don’t take the ‘gentle nudges’ from life, that both big & small changes are necessary.. it will eventually smack you over the head with a hammer (multiple times) to make the point.

Every now & then my Mom expresses a wish to have me living back in CAN (sorry, not gonna happen). Aside from the fact I love where I’m at, when you factor in cost-of-living, climate change, political landscape, health care, food quality, being car-centric, etc.. it’s (currently) a no for me. Cont..
