It shouldn’t be forgotten that a big piece of Mamdani’s campaign was simply “cities are cool and lots of people enjoy living in them” which in and of itself dismantles alot of rightwing talking points

I think a big part of the reason some people love bikes and other people hate bikes is this shared understanding that the bicycle itself is a symbol of rebellion and anti-establishment independence.

Great overview of NEC report. Greater coordination among Amtrak and commuter rrs can wring enormous efficiency out of the existing infrastructure. There are tradeoffs, but the estimated capital cost is significantly lower than other plans. @alonlevy.bsky.social and Devin Wilkins led this effort.
A detailed plan for trains to run from DC to Boston in less than four hours for about 10 percent the cost of Amtrak's current proposal for upgrading the northeast corridor rail.

With Andrew Cuomo in charge, instead of new bus lanes, faster trips, and lower fares, riders got budget cuts, fare hikes, and… USB-A chargers (somewhat handy if you’re expecting a long wait).

Riders deserve better than another Cuomo trainwreck — DO NOT rank Cuomo for Mayor!

I hope Canadians respond to collusion a lot more decisively than America did.
So am I understanding this right? Alberta Premier Danielle Smith asked the Trump/MAGA regime (who are currently attacking Canada) to time their attacks in order to influence the Canadian Federal Election and benefit Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative Party?

In an economic and sovereignty crisis?

Anyway, this is all a pretext for withdrawing all federal funding from New York City and State, a thing that will make the subway conditions Duffy is fear mongering about become reality. And Phil Murphy is his willing accomplice, as if the feds don't have the same thing in store for New Jersey.

So tired of New Jersey ruining NYC transit because they like to drive 😢. Christie with ARC cross Hudson tunnels 20 years ago. Murphy sucking up to Trump over a $9 toll. NJ doesnt have a right to enter NYC by car. Time for NYS to annex this useless state that’s really just 3 highways in a trench coat

In blue states, Democrats can pass laws that directly benefit working-class people's lives – such as @jabaribrisport.bsky.social's Universal Child Care Act – and prove to people across the country that Dems aren't all talk and really will act to improve their lives when in power.
Opinion: Universal child care in NY could save the Democratic Party
Let’s show the nation that when Democrats are in power, they pass universal policies that directly improve the lives of working-class people.

To ensure cars didn’t just take back control of Paris streets as the pandemic was “ending,” (like they have in so many cities), Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social made sure that 60k parking spaces and many streets were permanently transformed with seating for restaurants, people places and bike-lanes.

It's difficult to give children autonomy when "outside" is deadly because of roads and cars, so they can't bike or walk anywhere under their own power, they must wait to be shuttled everywhere in a two-ton box.
