We need to get rid of the term "laid off." The correct term is FIRED.
"Laid off" used to mean work had slowed down and you'd be brought back once it picked up.
Now it's just a term HR uses to soften what they're actually doing. But there is nothing soft about what they're doing: FIRING PEOPLE.
