Stop looking at the people who dug the hole you're standing in to lift you out. The person in the hole next to you did not dig yours as well. We are in this together good people. Let's stop giving the handful of hole diggers all our power.

The brother of federal Industry Minister, Mélanie Joly, is the president and CEO of Intelcom, a courier company that exploits subcontracted delivery drivers for pennies per package. It stands to benefit mightily from the dismantlement and privatization of public postal services in Canada.

I'm not seeing a single mention of the six Canadians on the Sumud Flotilla in any major news outlets.
As others, including Ireland, rush to help their citizens involved with the flotilla, here’s what Canada’s government told me of the six Canadians on board:

“The Government of Canada is not able to guarantee the safety of Canadian travelers, or to provide them with security and protection abroad.”

Yes.
Yes, we fucking can.

We can afford Canada Post, we can afford universal healthcare and prescriptions, we can afford free tuition.

You're told we can't "afford it" because industry wants all the money you pay in tax going to them instead, and our politicians keep handing it over.
🇨🇦 Disabled people manage to pick up their mail in every community I've ever lived in because most of #Canada does not have #HomeDelivery.
#Canadians can't afford to continue subsidizing this service for a privileged few.

Arguments like the one BC Ministry is making here only make sense if you live in a candy unicorn universe where employers are not motivated by efficiency and max profit and only ever act in the best interests of workers.
I am not understanding this argument from Ministry.
It's true that protective clothing, physical demand of work etc. can impact. This is actually why it's even more important to establish a maximum temperature appropriate to the kind of work, apparel, equipment.

We need to treat Canada Post as a public utility, which means funding it.

Its mission should be around public service, not profitability.
