Had a real fun time at Costco today. First, I couldn't log in to the app because they apparently REDUCED the max password length, such that my password no longer fit (ridiculous, I know). Then at checkout something screwed up and POS showed "transaction lost", after printing the receipt. Costco IT!!

Hot take: if your website is targeting mobile devices in the US, optimize for when people run out of "premium" bandwidth. Like, 256k cap. That'd force some drastic stack re-evaluation.

Google is working on an "advanced flow" to bypass the forthcoming developer verification. Good. At least they're not completely deaf to their users.

I have to pay in order to transfer an eSIM from one phone to another? That's some bullshit. I'm getting a physical SIM from this silly MVNO.

Watched Dark City tonight because it's purportedly a classic. Not a fan. It's like they tried to do sci-fi, but went way too artsy with it and forgot to include the science aspect. And also forgot plot cohesion.

People are talking about this as an AWS or centralization issue, but really it's a symptom of a different problem of software resilience much bigger than Amazon: Almost no software of any kind accounts for the possibility that it wouldn't be successfully connected to the internet all the time.
