Hello. I strive to DOGE: Do Only Good Everyday (Helping people + Always learning).
Fun Fact Friday:
About 8 percent of the human genome comes from ancient viruses that infected our ancestors. These viral fossils became part of our DNA and have stayed there for millions of years. #FunFact #Genomics #HumanEvolution #DoOnlyGoodEveryday #Virology #Retroviruses

I just uploaded my first machine learning model on Kaggle for the November challenge.
I’m currently ranked 1013, but that number doesn’t matter.
My goal is to improve the model for the lessons it holds, not for the leaderboard.

I started on Kaggle a week ago. It is the ultimate sandbox for anyone learning machine learning, from beginner to expert.
My goal is to sharpen my skills as a bioinformatician.

Fun Fact Friday:
A single gram of DNA can theoretically store 215 petabytes of digital data.

We can all learn a lot about data compression from nature.

CRISPR-Cas9 lets scientists edit DNA with extreme precision.
In 2019, Harvard researchers used it to restore hearing in Beethoven mice by correcting a single mutation in the Tmc1 gene with no off-target effects.

Allele-specific gene editing prevents deafness in a model of dominant progressive hearing loss - Nature Medicine
Screening of Cas9 and gRNA combinations identifies the variant SaCas9-KKH that selectively disrupts the mutant Tmc1/TMC1 allele that causes hearing loss, prevents deafness and preserves inner-ear hair...

Today, 2nd November, is the birthday of Kabosu. The dog that inspired the Doge meme and my motto of "Do Only Good Everyday."

I named my AI project Kabosu in her honor. The aim is to predict disease from multi-omics data obtained from the patient.

Fun Fact Friday:

If you tried to type your genome at 60 words per minute, it would take about 50 years to finish.

That’s 3 billion letters of life’s code.

The Indian Gaur is the largest wild cattle species on Earth. In my MSc research, I sequenced part of its mitochondrial genome and found that Indian populations are genetically diverse and distinct from domestic cattle.
