An artificial heart for children with congenital heart defects was almost finished. Families had waited for years it.

Then, Trump canceled billions in grants for universities — including the grant for this device.

The cruelty is endless. www.npr.org/2025/10/09/n...
This 4-year-old's heart is failing. A federal grant that might help him was canceled
A Cornell University researcher has been developing an artificial heart for children for more than 20 years. Now, his research is on hold and his lab is shut down.

New paper out! With the European Institute of Oncology (IEO), we studied the role of quiescent cells in melanoma for relapse and metastasis formation. Thalia, Leone and I created multiple models of proliferation, confirming the importance of non proliferating cells in fitting with experimental data

Yesterday I had the honour to partecipate at @cgnobilephd.bsky.social's final event of her Marie Skłodowska Curie fellowship at Turin University. I felt rather misplaced among top researchers from UNITO, @ub.edu, @upc.edu, @tilburguniversity.bsky.social and @tue.nl! A great experience indeed #MSCA

Yesterday I had my first experience at Montecitorio, the lower house of the Italian Parliament. I have been invited to attend an event about the Italian Strategy for national security. I really appreciated the lectio by Prof. Iannantuoni, that could be summarised as: "give room to young minds"

I had the privilege to attend the Ministerial Dialogue on Scientific Diplomacy at UNESCO. There's agreement on the most compelling issues: climate change, misuse of biotech, unfair AI, disinformation, space regulation. Althogh some powers push in other directions, we need more science in diplomacy

The biggest divide in America today is not between “right” and “left,” or between Republicans and Democrats.

It’s between democracy and oligarchy.

The old labels — “right” and “left” — prevent most people from noticing they’re being shafted.

Know the truth.

We need a new free speech movement.

And universities should sue the Trump regime for abridging the First Amendment rights of their institutions and their students.
