3. What this means for CEDAW application.

Today I wrote to the Under-Secretary of State on behalf of the APPG for Afghan Women and Girls. I raised concerns about e-visas not providing safe status confirmation & to get an update on the Afghan Citizen Resettlement Scheme. I hope the Minister will meet with us to discuss these issues further.

I join the Malala Fund in welcoming this news that the UK Government are joining the CEDAW case against the Taliban.

This is an important step towards addressing the injustices committed against the women of Afghanistan.

Today I, alongside over 160 parliamentarians, have written to the England and Wales Cricket Board urging them to speak out against the Taliban's unconscionable oppression of women and girls and boycott their upcoming match against Afghanistan in the Champions Trophy.
