Everyone is focusing on “Catch this, fascist”, and Ciao Bella being an anti-fascist song and reading that as literal. But these are both used in the video game Helldivers2 - which is a parody of authoritarianism. “Catch this, fascist” is satirical anti-fascism. 1/

As someone who camps at Yosemite a few times every year... this is frustrating. And so pointless.
Want to go visit the national parks this year?
Sorry.
The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired.

Agree but torn cuz comparisons to 9-year-olds are disrespectful of 9-year-olds.
This is perhaps the least troubling aspect of this message, but one of the common traits shared by Trump and Musk (et al) is their childish reliance on superlatives for everything. "The biggest liars in the world" is what a nine year old would say, but that's how they (and their audience) think.

“While not technically suspended…the NED has exhausted funds for grantmaking on hand, and we do not know when we will have access to additional funds.”

I'm hearing now that *every* technologist CFPB hired to investigate Big Tech was fired this evening. That's somewhere between 70-100 people.

Again, this idea has been floating out there for ages, and many other governments around the globe use the concept of shadow cabinets. Why haven't the Dems actually done this?
One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

Sources tell me there’s a frantic meeting happening at NCMEC right now to discuss the fact that this news was outed and how to move forward.
New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.

“As SM continues to grapple with content mod. challenges, it’d be nice if leaders like Zuckerberg were actually transparent about the real pressures they face, rather than fueling misleading narratives,” Mike writes. Right, and nice if they were actually leaders, not followers or cavers.
The comments on this one are filling up with Rogan/Trump/Musk fans calling me a liar and stupid, but without actually addressing any of the points in the article.

That's how you know it's good and you don't want to miss it.
Okay, here it is. 7500ish words on how the narrative that Zuck spread on Rogan is bullshit, but partly it's because Rogan was too incurious to actually listen to what Zuck was saying, and Zuck didn't want to correct him.

Is this a “boys will be boys,” oligarchs-will-be-oligarchs thing?
one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.

Stands to reason. (Glad yer safe)
Cut off tonight by a giant pickup truck that was trying to cross over two lanes of traffic to make a left turn he didn't have time to make and then found there was no opening on the other side, so he had to stop against the traffic in my lane (while I had to hit brakes)
