What’s the best plan when something is failing; cut your losses or give it another try? Obviously there’s no one-size-fits-all answer but Jesus makes a case for leniency.

It’s the beginning of Lent so we have Jesus doing battle with misinformation and half-truths in the wilderness. Our words and our presence might not be able to last more than a moment, but we can bring truth and life wherever we go, even the challenging places. A Gospel/Design Thinking mashup.

As a part of my sabbatical I'm coming off social media until the end of February 2025. I hope that this will help me to live a bit more in the present moment. If you need to contact me you can use my non-work email or WhatsApp, and I'll check messenger too. See you on the other side, be good.

While I was waiting on the platform at Bank DLR station this evening a message came over the PA: “Will Mr Sands report immediately to the Operations Office.” It kept on repeating, and then we were all bundled on the next train out to evacuate the station. Does anyone know what was up?

I’m back home after my last work trip for a while. Tomorrow I start my three month sabbatical, which is an incredible gift from the Methodist Church. I’m going to be exploring the theology of Design Thinking. I guess that’s super-niche but if that’s interesting to you get in touch.

I’m part of the team behind the Methodist Church in Great Britain’s advent campaign #HushTheNoise. We’re using the old carol to help each other to hush the noise, so we might hear the eternal song of love that still sounds around the world, if we listen. Bluesky seems to be hushier, so here I am.
