When the #ParisAgreement was signed, a huge global boom in coal was happening, threatening 4 degrees of warming.

10 years later, and coal's generation increased by the FOURTH most.

Solar #1, wind #2 💪💪💪
NEW | The world has achieved nearly a tenfold increase in solar power in the ten years since the #ParisAgreement ☀️

Solar rose from providing 1% of global electricity in 2015 to 8.8% in the first half of 2025.

Emerging economies now lead this growth 📈

Good thread from Dave about the new IEA "Current Policies Scenario" making a lot of the headlines.

Here is a very quick mock-up I made of what this scenario assumes for solar PV additions through to 2035, with historical context.

I'll let you decide whether this seems likely.

Our modelling shows industrial carbon pricing has essentially zero impact on households’ spending on food, adding less than $20 per year by 2030 to food prices compared to today.

There’s a lot of confusion circulating on industrial carbon pricing and food prices in Canada.

Our fact sheet lays out why this cost-effective policy has essentially no impact on the price of groceries and other products.

Here’s a short 🧵

FACT SHEET: Industrial carbon pricing in Canada
Industrial carbon pricing is Canada’s most important policy for cutting carbon pollution and creating a competitive clean economy.

Yet another great primer on industrial carbon pricing from @climateinstitute.bsky.social.

It's Canada's potentially most impactful climate policy, but it's hanging by a thread as provinces have gamed and, increasingly, flaunted the federal carbon pricing benchmark.

Ball's in the feds' court.
Canada’s industrial carbon pricing systems are meant to slash emissions and reward low-carbon innovation. But right now, they’re falling short due to poor design.
We took a closer look at what’s holding these systems back. ⬇️

Five choices that are breaking industrial carbon pricing
In some provinces, industrial carbon pricing systems are increasingly dysfunctional. Governments must fix them.

* Raise non-fossil share of energy to at least 30%
* Boost wind/solar to 3,600GW

Some said it would hardly be used.

Now there’s a decent case for widening it further.
