When the main news story on BBC NEWS is the BBC. you know there’s a problem. For far too long it’s been bent by political appointments and that has to stop now. We need our national broadcaster to be independent and apolitical. Managerial appointments must be free from politics or else it’s dead.

Absolutely this. No government interference and a truly non political BBC. Any government should not be involved in any part of management of the BBC. Independent means INDEPENDENT.
The government needs to stand up for a truly independent BBC free from political meddling.
