The Gibney Music-Writing Pencil. Gave 2 to Rebecca as a courting gift. Only 10-15 of these left. I bought 40 from (the now-closed) Northwest Music on Main at the urging of David MacIntyre. The best there is but I I think I need to use these up and #moveon.

Just finished @colsonwhitehead.com's #HarlemShuffle. So readable and smooth you sometimes forget you're in the hands of a master. I'd like to live like Carney and have a Pepper in my life.

#leuchtturm1917 shrine at #welks in #vancouver. So beautiful, these journals are. #moleskin, you can sit over there.

@doriskgoodwin.bsky.social’s #teamofrivals floored me. Such a human portrayal of #abrahamlincoln (leader with very low ego, I think) et al. So much history I wasn’t aware of and this incredible book made it accessible so many years later. As equally impressed by #author as subject. #reading

#billwithers #liveatcarnegiehall Whoa, I didn't know.

I really loved reading #lusternovel. What a landscape #ravenleilani has created. Cold and amazing. #reading

Time for the #beard to go. I don’t remember ever looking this way.

Did not expect to be completely undone by #tasteslikewar. Wow, #gracemcho. Just gutting at points (most of the points). An education on schizophrenia, trauma, and a vivid showing of this mother-daughter relationship.

What a dude. From “Useless Grant” to General (and President). This is such a smooth and human #reading experience. #ulyssessgrant

#inascension Not regularly a #scifi reader, but this is a family story. So agonizing, I keep thinking about the father-daughter and sister-sister relationships. Also, I tend to be fastidious about prep the eve before, so a little hard to read.

#boysstate I know nothing about state-camps (when I first saw the trailer I was terrified). A"Lord of the Flies" vibe; created a fine/nuanced portrayal of diff. personalities represented. All were earnest, some even likeable (SGarza). Even RMcDougall was endearing, in spite "good old boy" machismo.

#theyellowhouse is the best book I read last year. I didn’t expect it, but what a personal story of connection to a city. #sarahmbroom is amazing.

As a #middleclass person struggling with bills/life, I found #nomadland hopeful. Life doesn't work the way you hope, but you adapt and settle in. FMcdormand & DStrathairn are so good. Can’t imagine being as good with another actor. Landscape that she’s moving through=character too.

Do yourself a favour and watch #citysoreal. Connects viewers to a city in a very personal way, and makes me think of how American civic identity differs so much from my experience as a Vancouver-ite. The music is wonderful also.

I keep remembering this story #theglasshotel and recalling the world this #emilystjohnmandel created.

#topekaschool So much to digest. What a writer though #benlerner. The Jane subplot was really engaging and alive. I was scared of what was going to become of Darren. Still thinking about this one a few days after finishing. #thanksobama

#susanchoii=flex. #trustexercise = best book I read in 2022, though Hope Jahren’s #labgirl may rival. Theory= 1st section is fractalized version of 2nd. 2nd = broken up bits of other reality. 3rd is linked to first two, in that Claire who visits drama teacher is actually his daughter (gross).

Many R. Murr. Schafer refs. As ex #sfu cont. arts student, this was exhilarating. Illuminated border situation, part. as it pertains to children for someone who knows very little about it. It also describes a marriage in decline with acceptance, almost detachment. #thanksobama #lostchildrenarchive
