A quick walkthrough of the latest right-wing effort to downplay Jan. 6 and play up purported "weaponization" by the Biden administration.
Dethawing ‘Arctic Frost’ and the new Biden-was-worse argument
A recent American presidency, you may be alarmed to hear, engaged in an action that was "arguably worse than Watergate" — an event still positioned in some circles as the gold-standard of presidential...

How weak is your governing if you control all three branches of government and still can’t make a deal to keep government open?

Imagine posing as a strong man while simultaneously whining about how you are lucky to avoid injury from an escalator stopping while you are getting on. Imagine presenting yourself as a paragon of health, while also claiming that having to use stairs instead of the escalator might stop your speech.
Rep. Greg Steube: "Thankfully the first lady and the president had their hands on the rails that were going up the escalator, or they likely would've fallen down and injured themselves. It seems to be intentional ... I don't know why we're still part of the UN."

Also, surely this should be the core media narrative about this war - they’re not doing it for any reason they can articulate!

There’s no intelligence supporting their claims, Trump himself seemed to think it was a bad idea a week ago, but no one’s in charge and Trump is an easily-pressured fool

The ability to bomb/carry out military operations deep within another country is a relatively recent development in human history and it blurs lines presidents are happy to have blur.
Maybe we should institute the Civ rule: If it would trigger a war in Civ, it’s a war.

I’m posting anonymously because I’m a federal worker and for the first time in my career I’m faced with an administration petty enough that they can’t handle any criticism at all.

Congress need to stop giving the president “emergency” powers if they and the courts are not going to call the executive out on declaring emergencies where none exist.

I know the cost of this parade is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of the budget, but so is everything DOGE did all put together. The difference is that one is a presidential vanity project, but the other means that I’m not allowed to spend $2000 for professional development.
