I don't agree with Chomsky on everything, though I think he hits the mark on this.

Some coaches are feeling the long shadow of the last offensive drive that led to a turnover

The only "citizenship" that matters to me is being a "citizen" of this universe. I happen to inhabit this pale blue dot, and I pledge no allegiance or submission to any authority of your petty nation-states and their socially constructed imaginary boundaries.

Nationalist brainrot is being so riled up about "mass immigration" than the exponential increase of border militarisation, border-industrial-complex, and border walls for the last several decades, while believing that you're on the side of "freedom" who's owning the "globalists"

One of the "no shit Sherlock" moment is how a profit-driven system of capital accumulation eventually entails taking advantage of the monopolistic power of states as the effective means to maximise profits & concentrate wealth, for some reason many economists seem to ignore this

The Myth of the Marxist University
Academia is not full of radicals. There just aren’t many Republicans, perhaps because Republicans despise the academy’s values of open-mindedness and critical inquiry.

The questions we ought to be asking is not "will AI become smart enough take our jobs?" but rather "what does it say about the nature of contemporary employment that the same tasks can be performed by a machine with no self-awareness, needs, interests, and concerns?"

Douglas Murray is no expert on anything, literally. He's no more than an Islamophobe, Zionist, western supremacist, and anti-immigration alarmist with a British accent to make them all sound respectable.

A central tenet of Marxism is that the way forward is through, not back.

There is nothing Marxist about nostalgia for the 1950s.

wild that the US and China were apparently equally regarded last year (by this one measure)
The world is more divided than ever, but there’s still something (nearly) everyone agrees on: The US is unloved.

Meanwhile, China keeps improving its global standing 👇

We just gotta take a hardline No Woo stance I think. There're genuinely difficult questions about how this relates to traditional religion (being the political party of Reddit Atheists would be, for various reasons, bad) but some kinda "know it when I see it" ability to rule out this stuff is vital.

I still am not sure why Erik Olin Wright didn't see the relevance of dialectics in social science when his major contribution is his empirical study on a category he called "contradictory class location". Analytical Marxists are doing dialectics while dismissing it in words?

My review of "A Social History of Analytical Philosophy" by @schuringa.bsky.social is out. Thanks @benburgis.bsky.social for the chance to write on it.

Its a very fun, lucid and important book. I recommend it enthusiastically, but it has problems I discuss.
