I guess I never did a proper introduction post 😅.

I’m Ashley, a software engineer at Microsoft working on the Azure Cosmos DB dev experience (SDKs, Portal, whatnot). Before that I worked on .NET, at GitHub, and a few other fun startups.

News! Our family moved up to BC recently. I grew up in the Vancouver area and it’s nice to be back in the Fraser Valley. I’m still working for Microsoft on CosmosDB SDKs.

The attack on DEI shows why liberals should stop arguing about "strategic" use of language forever. DEI stands for three uncontroversial virtues that most every American accepts, and the right still turned it into a vile slur. It doesn't matter what you say - they will poison it because YOU said it.

I'm excited to announce the first beta of our official #AzureSDK for #rustlang crates! This initial release includes Key Vault Secrets and Keys, Event Hubs including AMQP support, our core crates, and Identity. Cosmos is following soon. We have more planned including some usability improvements.

This was a long time coming and we have released many unofficial crate versions with a lot of help from the community. We had to make some changes to align with our other languages' SDKs, but with @larryosterman.github.io, @analogrelay.net, and many others, this is our first *official* release.

As I’m moving things off Meta properties, I’m finding ATproto and BlueSky very attractive, but not having private accounts is a substantial blocker. While it seems to be a known issue, it’s not really prioritized (github.com/bluesky-soci...).

It bothers me that I have a 77kWh battery sitting on my driveway but the best I can do with it during a power outage is run a long extension cable and plug a power strip in to it 🫠 .

When someone says “the president is not a dictator” and you say “maybe soon though” I worry that that’s a akin to “obeying in advance.”

No. The president of the US is not a dictator. Even if he would like to be, we will not allow it.

Never underestimate the utility of a simple “reboot server if the CPU spikes” automation 😅. It’s not a fix, but it might let some folks sleep through the night.

Ok, so I got a Bluesky invite code. Seems kinda quiet here though. Who’s around?
