Hmmm, I'm running low on disk space on the hard drive I'm using for my home media server, but I still have a bunch of Dario Argento to add. Looks like it's time to make room for giallo.

It's wild to discover American sitcom adaptations in other countries. Like British Mad About You. You don't have to pay license fees to make a British Mad About You! Just make a show about a married couple that hates each other, but set it in London instead of NYC and noone will know the difference!

I requested the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe from the library, expecting the animated one (as that is the bibliographic info they put in the online catalogue entry) but they sent me the Disney one my rage is incalculable.

In retrospect, seems like a bad move for Republicans to run the villain from the second half of season 2 of Twin Peaks for governor in Virginia.

Was thinking of taking my kid to her first movie. Want to pick an early weekday showing to minimize chance of disturbing others. I see there's an 11:30 matinee of a cartoon called "Chainsaw Man." Would that be a good first movie for a three year old?

German word for the feeling of pain and disappointment one feels when one sees a link to a "hilarious political rant by Jon Lovitz," only to realize it's actually Jon Lovett.
"Lovitzschmerzen."

"All the teenaged girls on this show dress like school teachers. Is that how high school girls dressed in the early 90s?"

I hope the remake of Dragon's Quest VII makes it longer.

City Hunter has amazing aesthetics, but the protagonist is a super tough hang.

My daughter actually requested a black & white Mickey Mouse cartoon! She stayed engaged the whole time! When it was over she turned to me and said "While later cartoons displayed unparalleled artistry and mastery of form, early Mickey Mouse displays an anarachic energy never subsequently equalled"

Perhaps the reason Gamers are bad is because video games are bad for your brain.

I got literally angry with rage at the FF trailer in the theater when they kept coming back to the "it's clobberin' time" runner without paying it off. Yeah, I'm sure it'll pay off in the movie, but it's not good enough to be worth the wait. Either pay it off in the trailer or don't put it in.
The Fantastic Four trailer dismisses "it's clobberin' time" as "that's only in the cartoon."

I don't give a single fuck about this franchise but will Marvel ever stop Marveling. Can you be sincere for once in your lives with a Superhero movie. It's all capeshit. Grow up.

Oh no! A democrat did a heroic thing! And an elected senator, no less!
But don't worry: The Onion has made up some imaginary Democrats who reacted shittily for you to get mad at.
Phew! Your hatred of the Democratic Party (and your mom) is safe!

I... Think that the creator of this comic is attempting to make the same point that all of the people angry at the comic are making. Like, it's satirizing the "The curtains are fucking BLUE!" position. The cartoonist is saying "Oh, so do you think 'The Raven' is about how Poe fucking loved ravens?"
I try not to be hyperbolic but this is the single worst comic I have ever seen in my entire life.

So I've been reading some short stories by Flannery O'Connor and I'm kind of surprised these don't get taught (more?) in high school lit classes. Short (obv), punchy, lots of flavor, lots of color, surprising violence, easily susceptible to interpretation. Maybe the overt Catholicism?

Related: I actually got polled today! By a legit honest-to-god non-push non-partisan informational pollster! It was a Marist poll asking about my voting intentions for the NYC mayoral race. It even had "are you paying attention" questions like "Select Apple from the following list of fruit."
Get ready everyone.

The elite right leaning media in DC/NY's acela corridor are about to launch all out attacks on this man - just like they attacked Elizabeth Warren and before that - Howard Dean.

Time to make sure the progressives/left are fully unified behind him.

One thing that has also made people fussy is that their TV shows only have like eight episodes every four years. you need to have some dumb sitcoms on at least once a week so that people feel like there are these consistent things in their lives they can think about that aren't important

The Criterion Edition of Watership Down, one of only seven animated films in the presently 1282 entry-strong Criterion Collection, contains an interview with Guillermo del Torro that opens with the director complaining that the gatekeepers of art and high culture do not take animation seriously.
