They say:

We can’t just be AGAINST, we have to be FOR something.

We can’t just DENOUNCE people.

We have to stress KITCHEN TABLE issues.

I say:

I’m AGAINST Trump.

I DENOUNCE Epstein and his enablers.

My KITCHEN TABLE issue is authoritarianism.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

a3) When the price outweighs the value. Like many of you, I feel it's death by a thousand subscriptions. And $5 here and there adds up to a good amount over time. It's not that I don't want to support makers, but there's only so far a budget will stretch. #FreelanceFriends
Q3: How do you know when to call it quits with the current software/tools you're using? What are some reasons to switch to new options?

a2) I know there will be other fantastic answers here, so I'm going with check your renewal costs. Many platforms/apps reel you in with a great intro rate and then the renewal pricing is just ridiculous. Looking at you companies who HIDE that info deep in the small print. #FreelanceFriends
Q2: When shopping for new software/tools, what features should you look for? 👍

🚩 Are there any red flags to be aware of?

a1) My tech stack is running pretty good these days, assuming the apps/platforms don't decide to change things up. New and improved rarely work out that way for me. Also trying to stay as far out of the AI slop as I can. That's getting harder and harder too. #FreelanceFriends
Let's get started! Q1: Which TYPES of software or tools are you looking for as a small business (e.g., social media management, accounting, project management)? Which types have you found to be most beneficial (time-saving, task delegating)?

Kind of wild that while food assistance was withheld from millions of families, one Trump-supporting billionaire (Ellison) saw his net worth grow more this year than the entire SNAP budget. And the YTD gains of the other four richest men would’ve fully covered salaries for all 2M federal employees.

The ACA has saved self-employed people, under-26 y/os, people with pre-existing conditions, people who work for individual employers...that the GOP is throwing them to the wind is no surprise, but the Dems giving up on them is disgraceful.

People who want to make the web accessible need to understand the many different ways that people with disabilities use the web. This W3C resource offers a good introduction to how disabled people navigate the web, and barriers they commonly encounter.

So moved and enraged by the replies to this and was thinking... maybe we should collect them and send them to Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Senate cowards.

Form here, won't collect emails unless you provide them.

Just received the annual "Error Resolution Policy" for Google Pay. It was sent with a (seemingly) genuine Google branded domain email address. Gmail spam filter decides it's spam. Not that I disagree, but not sure what that says about the filter algorithm quality. hmmmm.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Under Schumer's leadership, eight Democrats (Cortez Masto, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, King, Rosen, & Shaheen) joined the Republicans in moving forward a bill to reopen the government without ACA subsidies—Dems' stated key aim—or any other real concessions from the status before the shutdown.

#FreelanceFriends -- thought this would be of interest as feeds. following and content reach come up in conversation often. Cheers!
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.
