I think #cats assume we have the same situational awareness that they do. So they can sit behind our feet while we get something from a cupboard and we won't step on them because obviously we know they're there.

I once saw a map that showed the countries that owned 90% of the world's wealth, and the countries that did not, and it pointed out that the border between the two sets was the most aggressively patrolled in the world.
That's what anti-immigration is all about. It's why no one worries about Canada.

Dunno why but I find it really depressing to see people who were formerly pro open immigration slowly changing to "I would be for it, but [same complaints about immigrants that have been made since the Chinese Exclusion Act]"
