Grasp the nettle.
They just updated the board and now they're running expo lines back past 22nd st all the way to waterfront again! #skytrain #expoline
Commercial Dr.
I should have updated this post for the benefit of others. Sorry! Yeah something with the track between commercial and Main St. is causing delays. And very long stops at stations - probably due to one line between those stations. But communication was weak.

Going around the other direction now... Sounds like it's still blocked but there are expo lines running from production o 22nd now
Oops, Skytrain broken between Main St and Broadway, I never go this way to Port Moody, I tried it today.... 😔 They're bunching them through. This is such a long stretch without switches, Quebec St area to Nanaimo Stn...

The headline "Can San Francisco Be Saved?" (as though it could be lost) captures how even a publication as rational as
@theatlantic.com feels obliged to cater to "urban doom loop" vibes.

Big cities are natural engines of prosperity. They do not need "saving." 1/
Can a city as creative as San Francisco actually solve its enduring problems of homelessness and addiction?

Next time I teach soc of media, this reading would possibly be useful but all probably anger all my students.
I've been unsatistifed with the takes I've read on Canadian nationalism lately. Its something I think an awful lot about, so I wrote seven short essays on culture, identity and how there can be no nationalism with out a national project.

What Canadian nationalism?
We long ago sold off Canadian cultural production, leaving nationalism nothing from which to draw on.

This is damning, but remember these professionals are actually being careful & diplomatic as such figures always are. I can imagine what they’d REALLY like to say.

For example, what OTHER reasons would he refuse?

A great read.

"When your enemy wants you disoriented, your ability to focus is an important means of self-defense. What matters to you in this moment? Most of us can meaningfully dedicate ourselves to one or two causes, at the most. What can you commit to doing something about?"
I wrote about Trump's executive orders, including his attacks on trans and undocumented people, and how we should be orienting ourselves to defy fascist violence in this moment. This piece includes commentary from @chasestrangio.bsky.social and @silkys13.bsky.social.

NYC is showing the rest of North America that we are long overdue for drivers to be paying their fair share for the externalities their actions generate. Revenue raised will support significant transit infrastructure investments. Here in Canada, who wants to be first? Vancouver? Toronto?
Last night with a cold windchill of 16 we still had a fun group of people show up to celebrate the start of NYC's Congestion Pricing including the 1st drivers to pay the toll!

Due to the cold or fumbling with my thick gloves, my audio was corrupted. But in the end this simple montage will suffice!
