I'm heartbroken. My daughter's living community and club will both be affected. She knows people who will be fired because of this bill. We wrote letters and we protested and we called and we were ignored. I HATE this.

The funding for these long COVID research grants was given back bc disability activists urged us to contact our reps persistently, in high volume, and we did. Remember that these tactics work the next time someone tries to get you to passively react instead of taking an active part in organizing!

I'm signing this because my son depends on school to learn, and this initiative combined with the recent efforts to remove 504 protections will have a real impact on his education.
For one kid in our neighborhood, I am an eccentric old lady. We have this great kid who cuts our grass, but I hate answering the door. He figured that out, and started sending a $1 request through cash app. If I pay, he knows to come cut the grass—we communicate almost exclusively this way. 🤣

There are little interim things for people with low bandwidth that don’t want to make calls: Vote Forward is letter writing and Postcards to Voters is postcarding for elections in a variety of states including help for special elections outside of your own. You cover supplies and postage. And time.

All the people saying Americans should be resisting more—what should we be doing? Truly, I’m asking. There are protests and marches and demonstrations, but they are local and aren’t being widely covered. Many of us can’t get to D.C. easily because we literally can’t afford it.

Just sent a committee at my state house a letter because they are discussing a bill to remove state funding from any state institution that has any DEI protections in place.
My daughter lives in the queer living community on campus. If they pass this bill, the school would likely shut it down.

Kiddo and I often do his schoolwork cuddled up under the blankets in my bed, and Taco has gotten used to this and curls up with us. This morning, we had class later than normal—I didn’t understand why Taco was meowing at me until we came in for class. 🤣
