My toddler has started requesting to hear “Burning Down the House.” My work is done here. I’ve peaked.

A hearty LOL at this news story about how trends come back around after 20 years. Who knew?

(But yes my ego forced me to click because lately scrolling TikTok has felt like an attack.)
Everything Millennial Is Cool Again
JNCO Jeans, big hair, “Sex and the City” and recession pop: Peak Millennial is back and the era’s trends are taking on a new life.

Hot tip: I do recommend blasting “Decepticon” in your car while you collect yourself to face the day. Loved this episode of Song Exploder.

Seriously, why do I have such a vivid primal memory of watching this as a child?
Really enjoying this classic Sesame Street segment, two minutes of freestyle jazz riffing on saxophone factory footage

I'm so charmed Laura Dern and Isabella Rossellini, wearing blue velvet, are sitting side by side. #oscars

If the reason you go long is that a lot of people talk warmly about their feelings and other people's work, it's fine with me.
I like how the Oscars this year is basically saying "fuck it, we're celebrating the art of movies and we are going LONG tonight we don't care"

My hot take is that Ralph Fiennes truly deserved an Oscar for his performance as Voldemort. He had to bring to life something that was unspeakably scary and evil and nailed it. He studied Martha Graham for movement inspiration. C'mon, what more do we want? #oscars

Andrew Garfield's stylist understood the assignment, which I assume was "Tom Ford 90's Gucci but THIRSTY." #oscars

My first Oscars on Bluesky. The vibes are different, but surely must be better than whatever bot comment chaos I'd endure on the other app. #oscars

We read a selection from “Still Life with Woodpecker” in our wedding:

“Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice.“

I have been so struck by how small our world is. Although I didn’t directly know anyone on this tragic flight, I know 3 people who did — including someone whose child lost so many in her figure skating community. It’s a sobering reminder of how connected we are, and the ripple effect of tragedy.

My New Year's resolution needs to be a ban on signing up for any new email newsletters because I read them about as frequently as I read The New Yorker despite my best intentions.

In my fuzzy memory, the true heyday was like, Christine Lahti running from the bathroom and Robin Williams just riffing to fill time.
I just haven’t felt like watching the Globes since they got less drunk.
