Asylum seekers, housed in hotels in Manchester, are reaching out in their own words to address the concerns of the local community.

Please take a minute to read their letter, & share it with the people in your life who need to hear the truth about the people they are protesting.

I don't know if this is right or not (I doubt it) but it does make me think that more people staying in is the last thing society needs. Between the internet, cost of living and the legacy of lockdown, we have a leaving-the-house crisis that manifests in everything from mental health to politics
Former cinema manager here. Chain cinemas will mostly close and independent cinemas will die out completely in the next couple decades. The costs are just not worth it. It's far too convenient and cheaper to watch films at home.

Love all the happy accidents that made this film such a classic. The sound track is one of my favourites of all time.
DONNIE DARKO was released 24 years ago this week. A cult classic that launched the career of Jake Gyllenhaal as a Hollywood star, the making of story is as out there as talking rabbit…

Despite a very strong wind, I managed to salvage about fifteen minutes of exposure out of an hour and a half of tracking before it set, just enough for a last-minute farewell to Comet Lemmon, capturing it a second time after my first shot in early October. 🔭

There is a serious, principled case for a codified constitution, for some of the reasons George sets out.

But botching together a constitution to stop Farage - a constitution that could not command widespread support and that was widely seen as rigged - would deepen our problems, not resolve them.🧵

Microsoft Office is such a striking example of this. MS is investing heavily in AI but still hasn't figured out how to open files with the same name in different folders.

He's saying this because his supporters burned down a judges house yesterday.
Trump: Portland is burning to the ground—insurrectionists all over the place. The politicians are afraid for their lives. That’s the only reason they say there’s nothing happening.

No. A wealth tax won't solve everything. No one ever said it will.

But until we begin to challenge the power & wealth of the 1% - then we know this Labour government has been bought and paid for.

MTC has engaged in horrendous brutality and corruption in global operations and the Albanese Government is secretly giving them more money to brutalise just over 100 people on Nauru. The cost of this cruelty is unimaginable.

Not only migrants bust student visas also already had a biometric component. This whole ID card thing is shady.
Ok. They’ve pissed me off.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

Time and time again the journalists fall for the distraction. We are bereft of quality. "Journalism is not a profession or a trade. It is a cheap catch-all for fuckoffs and misfits—a false doorway to the backside of life"
