I just found out what happens if Trump is dead.
Vance would have to nominate a new VP which needs to be confirmed by both House and Senate by a simple majority.
That sounds really messy because I doubt Vance would have the support of all R senators and reps. He is no Trump.

I’m not celebrating Ernst’s departure the way some people are. It’s the perfect opportunity to introduce a candidate who sounds reasonable or centrist, gets voted in on that image, and then governs just like Ernst, Collins, or others who toe the same line once they’re secure in office.
